The tourism group was in Berlin this week to try attract over 180 countries to our shores at the ITB Berlin trade show.

The German-speaking market is the third biggest international traveller source market for South Africa and the second biggest international market for KZN after the UK.

KZN attracted over 14 000 German visitors in 2022 who spent R232 million in the province.

Speaking at the trade show, Tourism KZN communications head Pinky Radebe said international tourism is important as the province looks to rebuild the sector following the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Tourism KZN is making every effort to regain and rebuild the province's international tourism market disseminated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"To this end, we have been engaging with key operators from various countries to lock down deals that will bring international tourists into the province, to our popular destinations such as Drakensberg, Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, Hluhluwe, Imfolozi Game Park, and the many other game parks in KZN."
