Tourism KZN is
gearing up for a bumper holiday season over the school winter break.

It says that based on current hotel and B&B bookings, some 430 000 domestic and 48 000 international tourists are expected to visit the province’s shores between June and July.
The tourism entity expects a boost of over R1.4 billion to the local economy.
Acting CEO Nhlanhla Khumalo says tourism's been returning after Covid, beating pre-pandemic figures.
"We have a total of 7.6 million visitors that we have received in the province. That number is higher than what we received in 2019, of 6 million visitors. We have received the largest number of domestic visitors as compared to other provinces, so we are the number one domestic tourism destination."

Speaking at a winter tourism activation in Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve this weekend, Khumalo said they have also teamed up with the Film Commission, to draw tourists to awe-inspiring locations and destinations to be used in film and TV series.
"By visiting these areas and capturing those areas as part and parcel of the scenes in the filming production, you are also showcasing the tourism offered by the province. That is what we call filming tourism."
