Durban July to boost Durban tourism, says union

Hospitality union Fedhasa says the Hollywoodbets Durban July has generated a huge buzz in the local hospitality sector.

Some 48 000 punters and fashionistas are expected to attend this weekend's horse racing event at Greyville Racecourse. 

 

Fedhasa's chairperson Brett Tungay says KZN's already started seeing a steady influx of tourists.

"Having the Durban July is an excellent boost to host Durban tourists and is also now in conjunction with the school holidays, so it is going to be good tourism for the next few weeks."

 

Meanwhile, eThekwini says it is all systems go for the horse racing event, which has created over 1 500 job opportunities.
