Tongaat ‘no-go zone’ as angry residents take to the streets

Protests have flared up again this morning in oThongathi as angry locals have blocked off all entrances and exits of the area over the non-supply of water.

Residents
say they have been without water for more than 50 days since the floods hit
KZN.
Earlier this week, they took to the streets as a cry for help to get their taps running again.
Nazir Sadack from Cert says his team is on the scene.

He warns the area is a no-go zone.

"The scene is chaotic, vehicles are parked off on the road, no one can go anywhere so we are advising residents to stay home until the situation is resolved. Metro Police and SAPS are on scene and are trying to their best to clear the roadway and negotiate with the protestors currently.”
A resident - Krishna Reddy says it's time for their voices to be heard. " This is a bit too much for us to handle, we got frustrated residents and civic heads. I don't think it's fair on this town I think something needs to be done."
