A Tongaat mother has been arrested after her six-year-old son was severely beaten.

The following story carries details of child abuse which some might find upsetting.
The boy was apparently assaulted last night for misbehaving.
It's alleged his mother left him locked up alone in their Hambanathi home and went to work at a tavern in the Tongaat CBD.
A neighbour alerted a local security group who called the police.
