Toddler killed after struck by train in Bloemfontein

A two-year-old boy has died after being hit by a train in Bloemfontein.
Emergency services say the child had already died when they arrived at the railway crossing in Heidedal on Tuesday.

The circumstances around the incident aren't yet known.
Danie Pretorius from National Crime Assist says that particular railway line has been problematic.
"The railway does not have any barriers around the parameter. Everything that's around there has been stolen.
"It is not the first person in the last few years that has actually been ran over by a train in that specific area."
