Three suspects killed in KZN attempted heist

Three people have been shot dead following an attempted cash-in-transit heist in Dalton, north-east of Pietermaritzburg.

Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says a group of armed men approached a cash vehicle earlier an opened fire.
She says officers who were nearby responded and were on the scene within minutes with a shootout ensuing.
"Three suspects died at the scene - with one sustaining injuries. A total of four unlicensed firearms were also recovered from the suspects. The injured suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention and is in hospital under police guard. A case of attempted cash-in-transit, the possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder is being investigated," she says.

A security guard was shot in the hand and is receiving treatment in hospital.
