Three suspected cop killers shot dead, two arrested north of Durban

Three suspected cop killers have been shot dead and another two are in custody following a late night gun battle in KwaMashu, north of Durban.
The gang is believed to have been behind the murder of 54-year-old Captain Dumisani Mhlanzi last month.
Mhlanzi was shot dead in an armed robbery at a supermarket in Maphumulo.
He had been off-duty at the time.
Officers swooped on the first suspect outside the King Edward Hospital in Umbilo yesterday afternoon.
They then descended on the notorious KwaMashu Men's Hostel at about 9 last night, where they came under heavy fire.
The second suspect was arrested in Ntuzuma.

Hawks spokesperson, Simphiwe Mhlongo says officers also recovered Mhlanzi's firearm.
Newswatch also understands that a bulletproof vest was recovered.
The two arrested suspects are due to appear in the Maphumulo Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
