Police are searching for the gunmen who shot
and killed an off-duty police officer in KwaMaphumulo, north of Durban on
Friday night.

The suspects had allegedly robbed a hardware store before targeting a supermarket that the officer was in.
SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says a task
team is investigating.
“It is alleged that [the officer] was just walking around the store doing his shopping when the unknown suspects went straight to him and shot him in his stomach,” she said.
Mbhele says the officer was rushed to hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival.
Mbhele says the motive for his killing is still unknown.
Nothing was taken from the officer.
