Three provinces remain in grip of third Covid wave

A further 369 more people have succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities to 79 953.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 10 346 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hour period leading to Tuesday evening.
KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape account for 70% of all new infections.
KZN continues to report the most infections - with 3 160 new Covid-19 cases.

The latest increase represents an 18.6% positivity rate.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 55,678 new Covid-19 tests were conducted.
There has been an increase of 493 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 13 974 people currently receiving Covid-19 treatment in both public and private facilities.
