Three in Durban court for copper cable theft

Three suspects linked to the theft of copper
cables belonging to eThekwini are set to appear in the Durban Magistrate's
Court on Monday.
The Hawks arrested the trio in Montclair over the weekend.
Authorities say they received information about suspected stolen cables being stored in a house in the area.
Provincial Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says officers found them hidden in wooden drums.
"A joint operation was swiftly conducted and members proceeded to the house. Upon arrival, four sealed wooden drums of Ethekwini Municipality copper cables and eleven carrying cables to the street value of approximately R250,000.00 were found.

"The owner of the house and two foreign nationals were placed under arrest."
In a separate incident, Mhlongo says 12 suspected cable thieves will line up again in the dock on Thursday.
The group was allegedly caught burning the city's cables worth approximately half a million rand uMgababa last week.
