The KZN Transport Department says more than 14 people have
been arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol in
Pietermaritzburg this weekend.

Officials say the drivers were nabbed during law enforcement operations in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.
In a statement, the department said a woman who was stopped was found to have a blood alcohol level of over 1.26mg, five times over the legal limit.
The department's spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane says she tried to flee, but police managed to arrest her.
“Multi-disciplinary operations are being rolled out through the province and are being implemented jointly with other agencies, including the South African Police Services, Municipal Traffic, and National Traffic Police.”
