'There is no easy way to live with COVID-19' says SAMA chair

The SA Medical Association says it thinks there could be a possible spike in Covid-19 infections in the coming weeks, following the long Easter weekend.

SAMA says it's particularly concerned about KZN, as our province had struggled to contain the virus during the second wave. And regulations for religious gatherings for Easter were relaxed. 

A maximum of 250 people were allowed to attend indoor events, and 500 people outdoors.

Government will review the rules in the next two weeks. 

SAMA's Chairperson, Dr Angelique Coetzee says she hopes worshippers obeyed the lockdown rules - to avoid a super-spreader situation. 

"We need to start to learn how to live with it."

"There is no other easy way to live with this, so by going to church and not adhering to the regulations. If you then get COVID-19 or you take it to someone else you become a spreader. You must then take the responsibility for that."
