Teffo's dramatic arrest meant to 'humiliate, intimidate him'
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The General Council of the Bar has called for an investigation into the arrest of a lawyer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Advocate Malesela Teffo, who represents found of the accused in the trial, was handcuffed shortly after court proceedings adjourned in the High Court in Pretoria on Friday.
The arresting officers said they were acting on a warrant issued for his failure to appear in court on a separate matter.
Chairperson of the bar council Craig Watt-Pringle says the manner in which the arrest was done was to humiliate the advocate or probably intimidate him.

"There are many ways that they could have arrested him. They could have arrested him after he left the court building. They could have arrested him at his home because they know where he is.
"The fact of the matter is he is appearing in this matter in court whenever it is scheduled. He has an instructing attorney whose identity is known, so it is very difficult to understand why the arrested was carried out in that manner if it was for good reason."
