Taxi protest in Durban cleared after blockade

Calm is said to have returned to Durban's North Coast Road, which was blocked by taxi drivers on Thursday morning.
It's understood that the drivers of about 30 vehicles downed keys on the busy route.
It's not known - at this stage - what they were upset about.

Motorist, Duane Bengtson was stuck in traffic and said the drivers stood outside their vehicles. Some intimidated other motorists.
"They blocked the carriageway coming out of town, one lane was open and they were damaging vehicles.
"Protesters were wielding pangas and bushknifes. The scene is all cleared up, metro police, and POP members were on scene and they have cleared the scene now."
Metro police spokesperson, Parbhoo Sewpersad's confirmed that a team had been dispatched to the area.
