Taxi owner, son killed in Umbumbulu shooting

A man believed to be a taxi boss and his teenage son have died in a shooting in Umbumbulu.

According to police, the 58-year-old man and his 16-year-old son had been driving on the R603 towards Isipingo this morning when gunmen in another car opened fire on them.
Spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the father and son passed away on the scene.
"A case of two counts of murder has been opened for investigation for investigation. At the moment, the motive for the killing is unknown - but the information that we have is that it was the chairperson of uMbumbulu Taxi Association.
"We further appeal to members of the community who have information or who has witnessed this to dial the Crime Stop number at 08600 111," she said.
