Taxi driver who mowed down cop was issued traffic summons, says metro police
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The eThekwini Metro Police Department says the taxi driver who ran over one of its officers in Chatsworth had been issued a traffic summons.

The metro cop is in hospital with serious injuries.
The department says two on-duty metro police officers stopped a minibus taxi on Tuesday morning and served him with a summons for obstruction.
It says the driver took the paper, scrunched it up and threw it on the ground before speeding off.
Footage of the incident shows the minibus being blocked off by a metro police van.

The taxi driver then made a U-turn.
The other officer ran up to the minibus and fired one shot in an apparent bid to stop the driver.
The taxi operator instead accelerated, mowing down the metro cop.
The taxi driver has been arrested.
The eThekwini Metro Police Department has advised motorists to comply with police, and if they are not happy with something, to take the matter up with the courts.
