A metro police officer has been hospitalised with serious injuries after he was mowed down by a minibus taxi in Chatsworth, south of Durban.

While the circumstances surrounding the incident aren't known, video footage of Tuesday morning's crash has been shared on social media.
In the clip, an officer in a police van can be seen trying to get the minibus driver to stop outside Moorton Shopping Centre.
Another officer is seen running towards the taxi, and lifts his firearm, as the driver makes a U-turn moments before crashing into him.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says he was seriously hurt.
"Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the policeman, believed to be in his thirties, on scene who had sustained multiple injuries before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required. SAPS also attended. Metro police and SAPS will be investigate further."
