Taxi boss gunned down in Verulam

KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating another murder believed to be linked to the taxi industry.
A taxi owner, who was believed to have been in his 40s, was gunned down on Verulam's Wick Street on Wednesday night.
Police say his body was found lying next to his car.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were also alerted.
Spokesperson Prem Balram says the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head, face and neck.
"An off-duty policeman called the operations center reporting a shooting in progress. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene.
“Paramedics assessed the victim and found that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased a short while later."

Last month, taxi council Santaco in KZN called on members of the community to assist authorities in ending the scourge of taxi violence.
This after the murders of a 69-year-old taxi owner in Tongaat and a 52-year-old taxi owner in Cornubia.
