Sydenham residents to march for peace following double murder
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A Durban community will take to the streets later this week to march against drug-related shootings in their area.
Last week residents of Sydenham were shaken by the double murder of 22-year-old Larvice Nashiville and 24-year-old Roberta Sing.
They were gunned down on Georgehill Road.
Sing was five-months pregnant.
Police say a vehicle linked to the shooting was traced to Cato Manor, but no arrests have been made.
Belinda Adams from the Community Policing Forum says residents approached them following the shooting.
She says Thursday's march will call for peace.
"At the CFP meeting, last Monday, SAPS noted the concerns and have made requests to the district fro intervention with crime prevention and alike.
"We trust this will be fruitful and more police presence during this time will be made available. We are deeply saddened by the loss of file as well as the fear we now all face on a daily.
"Reconciliation Day is a reminder that different people can come together and put their differences aside for the greater good and that's ultimately the aim of the march."
