The attackers opened fire on seven people on Sunday night, killing four men and two women at a home on Mngadi Road.

They'd suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

"They were all declared dead at the scene. A 27-year-old woman who was still alive when police arrived, was taken to a hospital for medical attention," says KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker.

Naicker says while detectives are yet to establish the motive for the attack they suspect it may be related to other crimes in the area.

Charges of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.
