More than a dozen primary school children have been taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment and being monitored - after being stung by a swarm of bees, on the south coast.
Emergency services say around

Netcare911's Chris Botha says some of the children sustained more than 20 stings each - mostly on their heads and hands.
He says one little boy is showing some reaction to the bee stings.
"The others are just very emotional, obviously just very sore. Some of the places if you look into the classrooms, there are literally hundreds of bees lying all over the floor - that had been stinging the kids. Obviously, it was quite a large swarm," he said.

Botha says some of the children are being monitored - as a precautionary measure.
"Sometimes these reactions take a bit of time, because the toxins also build up in the system. So this is why at the moment they have to go through to hospital for observation - o make sure there is no further reaction later on," he said.
