Suspects in court for fatal mob attack in KwaMashu

Four suspects are scheduled to line up in court on Friday for their alleged involvement in a mob justice incident in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the victim was accused of stealing.
"On 29 December 2021 at 10:00, police officers attended to a report of mob justice at Langwe Road in D Section, KwaMashu.
"The victim Siphiwe Shelembe, 38, was assaulted with sticks and hammers, he was also burnt with plastic by a group of people who were accusing him of robbery in the area.”

Shelembe died in hospital.
The suspects are said to have fled the scene when they spotted a police car.
The four were arrested on Thursday and will face a charge of murder.
