Armed suspects attack security guards at KZN Transport’s Merebank offices

The Department of Transport in KZN says three female security guards have been attacked and raped at its offices in Durban.

The department says a group of heavily armed suspects entered its Merebank offices in the early hours of this morning.

It’s believed three male officers were held hostage by the suspects while the women were attacked in a separate room.
The department says the suspects stole equipment used for road maintenance.
Transport spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane.
"We are also working closely with the police, making sure that the security officers receive health care, but equally, they also receive assistance in terms of registering the cases."
"We have seen an increase in terms of the attack on our staff. We are concerned because it will instil fear in our staff."
