A suspected robber has been shot and killed in KwaMashu. Police authorities say officers spotted a stolen vehicle yesterday and ordered it stop. Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele says the driver sped off and the car's other occupants started shooting at the officers.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele says the driver sped off and that the car's other occupants started shooting at the officers.
"Police officers returned fire and a 35-year-old suspect was fatally shot whilst three suspects managed to flee," Mbele says.
Policemen from the Durban K9 Unit did, however, find another one of the suspects - a 33-year-old - in the Siyanda area, in the early hours of this morning.
It's alleged the gang had earlier held up a Yellowwood Park man at his home in Eagle Hill, robbing him of his television and his vehicle.
Two firearms - both of which had had their serial numbers filed off - as well as 12 rounds of ammunition were seized and the suspect who was arrested was expected to be appearing in court soon.
