Suspected Pinetown thief in court for attempted escape

A 30-year-old accused of being in possession of stolen property, damage to infrastructure and escaping lawful custody is set to appear in court on Thursday.
Officials say the suspect was caught in Queensburgh along Morrison road on Tuesday.
He was found in possession of copper metre taps, copper fittings and copper pipes to the value of R2 000.
KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says the suspect later attempted to escape from custody.

"On the following day, a police officer was with the suspect conducting further investigation when the suspect attacked him.
"The suspect attempted to flee from the community service centre and he ran towards the street. He was apprehended and was also charged for escaping from lawful custody. He will appear before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court."
