Suspected KZN serial rapist nabbed after decade of prowling
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A suspected serial rapist who's apparently been on the prowl for over a decade will appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Detectives traced the 50-year-old man to Malukazi in Isipingo on Sunday.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the attacks date back to 2008 when he allegedly targeted his victims in the Durban CBD.
"In a calm and convincing manner, he would ask them to accompany him to Isipingo either because he did know the area very well or would offer some assistance to the victim who was in distress and the suspect would then rape the victims in secluded areas."
Gwala says similar cases kept piling up, with the latest incident being reported last year.
A woman was allegedly lured to Isipingo where she was strangled and raped.

Over 20 cases were reported.
Gwala says arresting the suspect took some time, since he used different aliases, but after some undercover work detectives were led to a house in Malukazi where the suspect was found.
He was positively identified by two of his victims.
Police are appealing to other victims to come forward and report their cases.
