A car hijacking investigation has led police to a Durban hospital where they found one of the suspects.

It's alleged the 23-year-old and two others hijacked a motorist on Sparks Road in Overport on Monday.
Police and a security company got word of the incident and were soon in pursuit of the gang.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokersperson, Nqobile Gwala says there was a shootout.
"During the exchange of gunfire, the suspects lost control of the vehicle and collided with vehicles parked on the side of the road. They abandoned the vehicle on Jan Smuts Avenue and Chapel Drive and fled on foot.

Initial investigations conducted on the scene revealed that one of the suspects was injured," say Gwala.
She says the injured suspect was traced to a local hospital where he was receiving medical attention for gunshot wounds.
He's now under police guard at the hospital.
