Suspected cash heist gang killed in KwaMashu shootout

Four people were killed in a shootout with police in KwaMashu, north of Durban on Friday morning.
Its believed the suspects have been involved in a spate of cash-in-transit robberies in eThekwini.
KZN police's Jay Naicker says law enforcement pounced on them at a house on Queen Nandi Drive believed to be their hideout.

"At approximately 6:30am police officers approached the house and when they breached the premises they were meet with gunfire from the suspects. A shootout occurred and all four suspects were fatally wounded."
Two of the suspects were found in possession four firearms, including two automatic rifles and rounds of ammunition.
"The suspects, two of whom are from Limpopo province, were found in possession four firearms, an AK47 assault rifle, an R5 rifle and two pistol as well as numerous rounds of ammunition.
"A large quantity of explosives, several vehicle number plates, some of them Limpopo registration plates as well as signal jammers were also found in possession of the suspects. A manhunt continues for more suspects. The independent Police Investigative Directorate have been summoned for further investigations."
