Suspect in Inkosi murder case killed in shootout

A suspect, believed to have been involved in the murder of an eShowe traditional leader, has been killed in a shootout with police.

Inkosi Hlanganani Biyela was accosted by a group of armed men as he arrived at his homestead in November.
The 54-year-old was shot and killed.

Last Thursday, the Provincial Organised Crime Unit arrested two suspects who later appeared in court.
On Monday, detectives traced other suspects to a church in Ngwelezane that was being used as a hideout.
Authorities say officers were shot at when they arrived.
They returned fire, killing a suspect.

Police say a gun, believed to have been used to kill Inkosi Biyela, was found next to the suspect.
Two other suspects who were also at the church were arrested after being found with two pistols with 16 rounds of ammunition.
