Sugar dumping should be motivation to improve efficiencies: Enterprise Ilembe
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Farmers need to adapt their strategies if their businesses are going to remain viable.

That is the view of some stakeholders who took part in the African Agriculture Conference in Zimbali, north of Durban yesterday.
The issue of dumping was brought up on the sidelines of the event.
Enterprise Ilembe CEO, Nathi Nkomzwayo says it needs to be looked at in context.
Tons of cheaper sugar from other countries dumped in South Africa has been viewed by many as killing the local industry.
Nkomzwayo says it should rather be viewed as a competitive market.
"Do we want to be seen as being like the US, by imposing trade tariffs? Or do we want to be free in the area of trade, where it is give and take?"
