Student teacher gunned down outside Newlands West school

A man believed to be a student teacher is in critical condition after a shooting in Newlands West, north of Durban.
The incident happened outside a school in Riverdene Drive on Tuesday morning.
Kyle van Reenen, who's with Emer-G-Med paramedics, says they found the teacher lying on the ground next to a car.
"Closer inspection found the man to have sustained a single gunshot wound to the head and he was in a critical condition.

"Emergency Care Practitioners worked fervently to stabilize the man before he was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further definitive care."
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
