Strike averted as private security sector reach wage agreement

A national strike in the private security sector has been averted.

Eight unions and employers have agreed on a pay hike of 5% annually over four years from next year.
The unions represent over half-a-million workers.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union's Amanda Tshemese says there are still outstanding demands.

"We are going to keep on negotiating with them, talking about medical aid, housing allowance and other benefits.
"We would like to say to our members that we are going to keep on negotiating with the employer on those demands that we could not meet."
