Storm-hit Hilton without power for a week
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A councillor in Hilton says the community of Ward 6 has been left in the dark for almost a week after a severe thunderstorm knocked out power to homes in the area.
The KZN Midlands experienced heavy downpours last weekend.
Councillor Kate Janse van Rensburg says technical teams from uMsunduzi and uMngeni [municipalities] have been on the ground.

She says the storm also downed trees which've added to their challenges.
"Two main streets from the train station have been compromised by what appears to be a lack of maintenance from uMsunduzi."
"The main problem is, the trees have damaged the lines, and it’s a very difficult terrain for officials and teams on the ground to navigate. This has prolonged the repairs as well as the consistent rain again contributing to the terrain being difficult to navigate."
