The unit proceeded to two homesteads in the Khethani and Maswazini areas, where they recovered the firearms and ammunition.

Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the suspects, aged 41 and 48, were arrested for being in possession of a firearm without a license.

Gwala says the rifles have been linked to a case of housebreaking in the Winterton area in January.

"The firearms will be taken to ballistics to ascertain whether they were used in any crimes in the country," she said.
