Durban North armed robbery sparks manhunt

Police are on the hunt for five people following an armed robbery and shooting on Waterkant Road in Durban North yesterday.

A family was allegedly targeted during the incident. Initial indications are that the suspects followed the family before ambushing them. A shot was fired hitting the victims’ vehicle. The driver’s right leg was grazed by the bullet.

The robbers allegedly fled with an unknown amount of cash and a cellphone. Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen says he was lucky to have avoided serious injury.
"It is believed that the bullet ricochet grazing his right leg", he said.
"Luckily he did not require any serious medical treatment and was assessed on scene and refused hospital transportation", van Reenen said.
Police say a case of attempted murder has been opened.
