Still no sign of Soweto boy (6) who fell down manhole
Johannesburg Emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says there is still no sign of the six-year-old boy who fell down an open manhole in Soweto.
Khayalethu Magadla was playing with friends in Dlamini Park on Sunday last week when he slipped into the sewer system.
Mulaudzi says the teams have covered eight kilometres of the 13-kilometre pipeline from the manhole where Khaya slipped into - in an attempt to locate him.
"We have already covered about eight kilometres of the pipeline. The distance between the first manhole and the sleep chamber is 13 kilometres, so we are already past halfway."

"Today, we have options that we are exploring in some of the manholes that we have before getting into the ventilation chamber, so we are hoping that we might locate around this area.
"If not, we will continue until we get up into the sleep chamber, which might be today, tomorrow, or Wednesday. From there, we will be focusing on the sleep chamber."
Mulaudzi adds that it is now a recovery mission.
"It is actually now a recovery because we have already passed about seven days already. The chances that we find him alive are very slim now."
