State to oppose bail as cousins appear for Bongani Mkhize's murder
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Two cousins accused of murdering ANC Youth League branch chairperson, Bongani Mkhize will have to wait until next week to apply for bail.
Mkhize was shot dead in Umlazi on Saturday morning. 29-year-old Mfanafuthi Zulu handed himself over to police later that day.
His 24-year-old cousin, Andile Zulu was then also arrested.
The cousins made a brief appearance in court today. They appeared somewhat taken aback when they emerged from the grills to be met by a sea of journalists.
The court heard today that the State will be opposing bail. The matter has been adjourned until next week for a formal bail application. In the meantime, the pair will remain in custody.
