eThekwini staffer facing cybercrime charges for tampering with CCTV cameras

An eThekwini Municipal employee linked to the theft of CCTV equipment has been charged with breaching cybercrime laws and theft.

Mlungisi Mondlana is accused of tampering with the city's camera systems.
KZN spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Natasha Kara, says the 36-year-old is alleged to have committed the crimes in early February.

"The charges relate to the alleged unlawful interference with computer data storage systems linked to the eThekwini Municipality’s closed-circuit television cameras, and the alleged theft of a TV screen."
He is due back in court next Thursday for bail consideration.
