Staff at PMB clinic down tools after nurse contracts COVID-19
The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) are calling on the KwaZulu-Natal Health Department to act swiftly when informed of staff testing positive for COVID-19.
This after a nurse tested positive at the Northdale Clinic in Pietermaritzburg.
She asked to go home after complaining of a pain in the throat last week Thursday.
On Monday, staff downed tools demanding that they be tested and the clinic to be decontaminated.
NUPSAW KZN's Mfanufikile Nkosi says the virus should not be taken lightly.

"It's something that happens most institutions within the province, hence we are having the same challenge at Madadeni Hospital and Ngwelezana Hospital."
PSA's Charles Ngubane supports the call for adequate action to be taken at affected facilities.
"It was our engagement and also our pressure and the demand that has forced the employer to test the employee. As a result, that is why they have started late to test the employees. Those staff need to be quarantined."
