Three members of the public have been shot and wounded in a Durban gun battle that's left five suspected cash-in-transit robbers dead.
They were caught in the crossfire as police pursued the gang in Parlock - north of the city.
Cash-in-transit guards came under attack this morning at a shopping centre in on Umgeni Road in Springfield.
The police's Nqobile Gwala says officers were soon on the scene.
"A shootout took place between suspects and police which resulted in the death of one suspect. He died on scene. The chase continued to the Parlock area where the suspects continued to shoot at police. Police retaliated - fatally wounding four suspects," she says.
