Specialised team needed to probe attacks on women: ANCYL

The ANCYL in the province has called for the formation of a special police task team that will both combat and investigate thoroughly the abduction and killing of women in the country.

This came out yesterday as the league - along with various church leaders and DUT students - demonstrated in separate marches through the Durban CBD against the scourge.
Provincial chairperson Kwazi Mshengu says these cases can no longer be treated like other crimes.

"In any criminal justice system, justice must be seen to be done and people must have confidence in the criminal justice system. That's why we're calling on the Department of Justice to also set aside dedicated courts that will prosecute with maximum speed all those that have been apprehended," he said.

Sipho Mbhele a Director in the Department of Community Safety in KZN who accepted the league's memorandum on behalf of the MEC says they're ready to rid the province of crime.
