South Africans are mourning the death of award-winning gospel singer Dr Deborah Fraser.
The 56-year-old died in hospital on Sunday following a short illness.
Mama Fraser, whose career spanned more than 30 years, worked with legendary artists such as Hugh Masekela, Jonas Gwangwa, Lucky Dube and Brenda Fassie.
Fraser released her first album 'Abanye Bayombona' in 2000 – which remains one of her loved works.
In its tribute to Fraser, the ANC said she was also an activist in her own right and a loyal supporter to the movement.
"She performed at our events without any hesitation, using her melodious voice to re-energize our support base. Her hit-song "MINA NGOHLALA NGINJE" became our electioneering anthem and still enjoys airplay during our events."

"We dip our revolutionary banner in honour of this great daughter of the soil," said ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe.
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture described her as a "legend for sacred music".
"Dr Fraser was recently honoured with a Doctor of Philosophy in Sacred Music by the Christian leadership Academy. The department extends our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and fans all over the world," it said in a statement.
