SONA 'pepper spray' incident: SAPS investigating
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Parliamentary spokesperson, Manelisi Wolela, says investigations are underway after a substance was released in the public gallery
during the Opening of Parliament on Thursday night.
Wolela says forensic investigators from the South African Police Service (SAPS) are currently analysing the substance.
"As Parliament, we would wish to make our decision based on evidence brought in by delegated authorities. So we expect that during the week we will be able to communicate better in terms of the investigation," he said.

Wolela says Parliament won't comment on remarks by ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu - that they've been reliably informed it was an EFF member who released the substance.
"We know that we placed every person in a particular chair, so we will be able to identify who was in that space, and those people would be requested to provide evidence in terms of what they saw," he said.
