Some opposition parties not surprised by Sizani's resignation

Some opposition parties aren't surprised by the resignation of ANC parliamentary chief whip, Stone Sizani.
The ANC announced yesterday that Sizani would be taking on a new position urgently and this forced his abrupt resignation.
The DA's chief whip John Steenhuisen says the timing of the resignation is suspicious, especially since it came after Tuesday's debate on a vote of no confidence held in the National Assembly.

"I think it must have been an uncomfortable position for Mr Sizani to be in, having used his parliamentary caucus to defend President Zuma, with the president then throwing the ANC caucus under the bus in the Constitutional Court over the Nkandla matter. I also think that he struggled over the last couple of years to fill the ANC benches," he said.
Cope Spokesperson Dennis Bloem says there is tension within the caucus.
"We know that there is a serious tension within the caucus. Other people are saying that the president has betrayed them, they have defended him but now their integrity is at stake," he said.
