Slain ‘taxi hitman’ was wanted for 8 murders, say KZN police

police say a suspected taxi hitman, who was killed in a shootout this week, was
wanted in connection with eight murders.
Investigations led officers and a police tracking team to a house in Sea View, south of Durban, on Monday.
"Upon noticing the presence of the police, the suspected hitman, who was in the taxi industry in the South Coast area, fired shots at the police and a shootout ensured,” says provincial spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.

“After the shootout the suspect was found to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A 9mm pistol with a filed off serial number as well as ammunition was found in his possession.”
Netshiunda says the man had been linked to six taxi-related murders in Scottburgh and two in uMbumbulu.
Police watchdog Ipid is also investigating.
