Six trapped workers die at Limpopo mine

The body of the sixth worker who died following an underground fire at the Palabora Copper mine has been brought to the surface.

The mine's Lydia Radebe says the workers became trapped when the fire broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning.
"One of our conveyor belts caught fire - and the rescue team, mineral resources and mine management went into the mine - trying to rescue the colleagues who were on duty. Most of the colleagues who were on duty were rescued.

The Department of Mineral Resources are investigating the circumstances that led to the fire.
Radebe says operations at the mine have been halted.
