Sindiso Magaqa murder trial: Accused plead not guilty

Four men accused of the murder of former ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa have pleaded not guilty to all charges against them.

Their trial got underway in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.
Sbonelo Myeza, Mbulelo Mpofana, Mlungisi Ncalane and Sibusiso Ncengwa face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, counts of attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Magaqa, who was an Umzimkhulu councillor, was shot, along with two colleagues, in an ambush at Ibisi Village in July 2017.
Magaqa died in a Durban hospital two months later.
The other two councillors survived the attack.
The four accused today heard they face life imprisonment if convicted.
