Simelane: Surge in new Covid cases in KZN not surprising
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane says the surge in new Covid-19 infections in the province is worrying but not surprising.

"The province of KwaZulu-Natal is a province that normally sees a lot of tourists during this time, but we also see a lot of compatriots that come from the province of KwaZulu-Natal coming back home from different provinces where they reside or where they work.
"So generally, we would have expected that our infections would go up during the festive season," she said.
KZN's overtaken Gauteng as the epicentre of the pandemic in the fourth wave.
The province registered almost 2 500 new cases on Monday.
As KwaZulu-Natal welcomes an influx of visitors, Simelane says there's a plan to take vaccines to the people.
"We have started with pop up sites and we are implementing them in a number towns, streets and areas that are populated over are overly populated.
"We have even established pop up sites on the beach so that people, while they come and enjoy themselves they can also get an opportunity to get vaccinated and we are bringing the vaccine closer to the people.
