Siam Lee murder case struck off the roll
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The matter against the man accused of kidnapping and murdering Siam Lee has been struck off the roll at the Durban High Court.
According to Ntuli's attorney - he died from skin cancer over a week ago.
Lee disappeared from outside a home in Durban North in January last year. Her charred remains were found by a farmer in the KZN Midlands some days later.
Senior State prosecutor, Cheryl Naidu told the high court that they first heard of Ntuli's death through reports in the media. Naidu said they initially had doubts after receiving Ntuli's death certificate - as the print format seemed suspicious.

She said the investigating officer and other detectives then went to the mortuary themselves to view the body - and also questioned the death certificate with Home Affairs.

Fingerprints taken from the mortuary were also cross-checked with the finger prints taken when Ntuli was arrested.
Naidu said the case should be struck off the roll - saying it pains her because the State had put together a strong case against the accused.

The State was confident it would secure a conviction against Ntuli - and that the trial would have given Lee and other victims a voice.
